1. Welcome and thanks for attending.
2. Review of notes of the previous meeting.
A Parish Council award has yielded about £900 for the ward of Frensham. It is hoped that a final award will be made this year
The Frensham Millennium Party bank account is to be renamed as the Frensham Millennium account so that funds may be transferred from the supervision of the Parish Council.
3. Project News:
Footpath:
Everyone who is named on the February 2000 electoral roll will have a named brick. It is hoped that everyone will contribute £5 voluntarily although not contributing will not exclude an individual. The names of Frensham children may be added at a fee.
Frensham residents have responded well. Dockenfield people have been included as the footpath is to be laid in the churchyard which serves both villages. The first third of the bricks has been ordered. Names have to be checked and rechecked. The names of recent incomers may prove to be a difficulty.
CD-ROM:
It is hoped that pictures, text, sound and video will be included. Photographs of residents outside their houses, events and organisations will be consigned to disc and a copy will be buried in the Time-capsule, contributing to the "Domesday effect" Collection of the material is to commence now and continue throughout the year. Their is a logistics problem to this. Copies of the disc will be available for purchase at an approximate cost of £10 at the end of the year. Examples will be available at the Festival and, possibly , the Frensham Fayre to encourage purchase of copies of the disc. The History Society will be approached to produce a short precis and copies of old and new maps will be included. It is proposed to include only Frensham in this record.
Church window:
Some £5000, culminating from donations and fund raising, is in the fund for this project. About £7000 is required for it’s completion. A talk on "The History of Frensham and Dockenfield" by John Chuter will be given at 7.45 p.m. on 22 March 2000 at the Marindin Hall.
Two artists, working alone, have submitted designs and one is working with Barbara Howe on further ideas. The designs will soon be on display in the church. Villagers will have the opportunity to comment and the designs have to be displayed for three weeks. A Diocesan decision has to be made and installation will take place before the end of the year. Donations should be made payable to The Frensham Parochial Church Council.
Comment was made on the issue of tax relief on charitable donations.
Trees:
Proposed plantings:
School green Red Oak
Hollowdene Recreation Ground Green Beech
Tulip Tree
Sweet Gum
Acer
Gingko
Both churchyards Yew trees from propagation from 2000 to 4000 year old stock
Chris Thayer has been appointed to prepare the ground at the school. It is hoped that the School will take responsibility for the watering.
Quotes for prices have been requested. Confirmation of the appropriate size is awaited. There should be enough funding for the plans.
The Village Walk:
The first part of the walk will take place in Churt on 29 May 2000.
The Frensham walk will happen on 28 August during the Festival week. Chris Thayer is seeking help to design the guide. He has an offer of free printing for 100 copies. The guide will be sold at a fee which may include food and a drink. Paddy Haines has offered to video the walk as it happens and will include Anthony Raw explaining the features of the route.
The Rushmoor walk will be arranged by Mike Coates and will probably take place between May and August. The walks will represent the fact that Frensham is divided into three wards. It was suggested that the booklets represent this in their production.
Time Capsule;
Suggestions for contents are sought. A copy of the CD-ROM and the electoral roll will go in. A burial period of at least 100 years is suggested. It is proposed that it be buried under the War Memorial, providing the National Trust and the Royal British Legion do not object. A record of the burial is to be made in St. Mary’s church and by the Parish Council.
Charitable Church Project:
It is proposed that £1 per head is to be collected from each Frensham resident in order to fund the provision of clean water in a third world country.
Festival:
Will take place between 25 and 28 August 2000
