Frensham Millennium
Notes of a meeting held on 21 July 1999
Present: Geoff Howe, David Jones, Simon Clough, Chris Haines, Paddy Haines, Rosemary Wood, Jonathan Wood, Mike Millerchip, Laura Myers.
Apologies: Steve Custance.
Update on Projects:
Footpath:
Response:
There has been a significant response from local residents, representing input from 38% of Frensham residents and 24% of Dockenfield residents.
Current funds available amount to £3835. 01 and include a donation of £500, accompanying a "Surrey Pride of Place Award" from Surrey County Council in conjunction with Toshiba. Receipt of the prize entails the production of photographs of the project which are used to promote the scheme.
Progress:
Ordering of the bricks is imminent. Paddy Haines has agreed to update the electoral register as necessary. A publicity programme is to commence. Thirty members of the church who live outside the village are to be allowed to be included in the list of names.
The BBC 1 programme "South Today" is to film a piece on the project on Tuesday 27 July 1999.
Trees:
Adequate funds are in hand for the tree planting. Consultation with the appropriate professionals is to be made regarding suitability of the choice of trees and their proposed location.
PROM project:
Progress:
The appropriate hardware and software is installed but there is a possibility that further will be necessary. Investigation is in hand regarding this. It is suggested that an alternative plan to the original one be pursued, namely that the photographs be taken by individuals and passed on to the organisers for scanning onto the hardware.
Support for the establishment of a database of the names of the Frensham and Dockenfied residents is required. Christine Pointer at Waverley Borough Council is to be approached to establish whether there is a copy of the electoral roll on disc that is available to the general public. The help of a database literate person to help Geoff Howe and Rosemary Wood set up the system would be useful.
Church window:
Progress:
Initial designs were submitted in August 1998. Professional involvement concerning manufacture and installation is being pursued. Simon Clough has now become involved with this project and is involved with negotiations regarding the faculty which has to be sought. It is hoped that the window will be installed by September 2000, in time for the Patronal festival. It has been requested that it is noted that it is hoped that the window will be of stained glass but that it may be engraved.
Fund raising:
The Jazz suppers raised in the region of £500. A further Jazz evening and a Country and Western evening are planned. A significant contribution has been made from a confidential source.
Parish Walk:
No further news.
Charitable church project:
Plans have been established and the programme will commence in the year 2000.
Time Capsule:
No further news.
Festival:
See programme for suggested plans.
Plans:
The location of the marquee will need to be discussed with the Parish Council and the Sports and Social Club. It is suggested that Jerry Gamb be approached as he currently supplies the Frensham Fayre marquee at favourable rates. The Rural life centre will be approached concerning their willingness to become involved. The Parish Council must be asked whether it will be possible to involve animals in the festival.
Publicity:
A monthly update in the Parish magazine will continue and a newsletter will be produced for distribution from the church, the shop and the Holly Bush.
Donation from the village Fayre:
Representatives from the Frensham Fayre requested information regarding the allocation of a donation from the profits of the Fayre. It was proposed that it should go towards the footpath as this project had received considerable support from the residents of Frensham and Dockenfield.
