Notes of a meeting held on 12 October 1999

Present: Mike Millerchip, Laura Myers, Geoff Howe, Jonathan Wood.

Apologies: Steve Custance, Rosemary Wood, Alvyn Pettersen.

1. A newsletter is to be produced in an attempt to disseminate information regarding the plans for next year. Reports are requested from all the organisers.

2. The Frensham leg of the walk will take place on Monday, 28 August 2000. It will consist of a walk around the village, possibly including the area a round the pond. there will be a guide written by Anthony Raw and this will be on sale ( at a nominal fee which will go towards the cost of the food provided for lunch) 4 to 5 weeks in advance. This will give some idea of the numbers of potential participants. It is proposed that a video be taken which may be sold as souvenirs of the event. Power and water will be required at the recreation ground and there may be an option to merge with the other catering plans.

A financial award held by the Parish Council is to be divided between the wards for disposal as each group thinks fit.

A spring walk is also in the offing, consisting of a separate walk in each ward which would join together at the Little Pond.

3. The footpath fund has reached £5055.01 which is well on the way to being the total required. The bricks for Frensham have been ordered. Jonathan is embarking on a poster campaign to jog some memories.

4. The technology for the sound and pictures to produce the CD -ROM is installed in the village but it is not yet interactive. This avenue is being further explored. It may be that the collection of photographic data will be made by requesting that individuals take their own photos and pass them on to the organisers as prints or recorded onto photodiscs. An arrangement whereby individuals co-ordinate the local collection of the photos and written information is an option. It is suggested that the data base of names for the footpath may be linked with the images on the disc. The issues of copyrighting and insurance are to be adressed.

5. Decisions regarding the choice of trees has been made. Quotes for the trees, ground preparation, planting and protection are being sought.

6. No further news on the church charitable project, the time capsule or the festival.

7. Two artists have put forward their C.V.s for the design of the church window. Several designs are being explored and approaches to the P.C.C. and the Diocesan Council are being made. The dates remain as previously quoted. The costings will vary depending upon whether the window is engraved or made of stained glass. Funds already raised for the window have been transferred from the account. All finances rest with Clare Beer and an anonymous donation should ensure that the project goes ahead.

8. The Churt Millennium event will take place on 10 June 2000.

9. Fund raising continues with grant applications and events. There will be a quiz night at the Royal British Legion on Saturday, 15 January 2000 and a Country and Western evening is to take place.

10. Next meeting: Thursday, 13 January 2000.
